Grand Theft Auto 6’s official reveal trailer was set to go live on December 5 at 9 AM ET, but after it got leaked, Rockstar Games promptly released it several hours ahead of time. And now that the game has been officially announced, Rockstar’s press release accompanying the trailer has revealed another key detail regarding its launch.

The company has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will only be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch, which means PC players will once again have to wait for the game a little longer, as is tradition with Rockstar titles.

“Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems in 2025,” the press release reads.

Given the massive success that Grand Theft Auto 5 in particular has enjoyed on PC (even more so than other Rockstar titles), there were plenty of questions about whether its successor would finally be the Rockstar model and get a simultaneous launch on the platform, though unsurprisingly, the company has chosen to stick to its traditional release schedule. The likes of Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2 (among others) all arrived for PC months after their console releases.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, home to the Miami-inspired Vice City, and Rockstar Games is promising “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
