There’s been no shortage of rumours about Grand Theft Auto 6 for months, if not years, but we may very well have gotten our first concrete piece of info on the game. In a report by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier about how Rockstar’s internal culture has changed of late, new details on the unannounced sequel have surfaced.

Reportedly, unlike the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 6 will be launching as a “moderately-sized” game (though the report notes that it will still be a pretty large game, given Rockstar’s standards). Rockstar then plan on adding to the game and expanding it further with regular post-launch updates. It’s also mentioned that GTA 6 is still in early production, which would mean it’s a ways off from launch yet.

Not too long ago, reports emerged that Take-Two Interactive were trying to get Rockstar to adopt a model that sees them releasing games with greater frequency, so GTA 6 being a relatively smaller production would very much fall in line with that.

Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser recently left the company, so it’s clear that they are going through some changes. It should be interesting to see how that materializes in the coming years.
