Grand Theft Auto 6 Leak Was “Really Frustrating and Upsetting to the Team” – Take-Two CEO

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says that though the GTA 6 leak did not have any "business" impact, the development team was affected by it "as a personal and emotional matter."

Rockstar officially confirmed in February last year that Grand Theft Auto 6 is in active development, and since the announcement was made, speculation and rumours about the game and what it will bring to the table have gone into overdrive. A lot of that was driven by a major leak in September, which showed extensive early alpha gameplay footage from the open world title- and as you’d expect from any leak of this scale, it was a distressing period for the game’s development team at Rockstar.

Speaking recently with IGN, Strauss Zelnick – CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive – touched on the matter. Echoing previous comments, Zelnick said that though the leak did not have an impact in a business sense and on the game’s development, it was “really frustrating and upsetting” to the people working on the game on an “emotional and personal” level.

“We take leaks very seriously indeed and they disappoint all of us, it’s really frustrating and upsetting to the team,” Zelnick said. “However as a business matter we’re not affected. But as a personal matter and an emotional matter, our teams are affected.”

The alpha gameplay leak is not the only Grand Theft Auto 6-related leak we’ve had in recent months. Reports have also revealed additional details on the game, which is reportedly set to have a female protagonist and feature Vice City as its setting. Read more on that through here.

Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto 5 is also continuing to enjoy impressive sales, predictably enough, having recently surpassed 175 million worldwide shipments.
