Elden Ring is out now, and millions are diving into its incredible open world offerings, but as is the case with any game released in this day and age, its developers at FromSoftware are still working behind-the-scenes to iron out any lingering bugs or issues hampering the experience. To that effect, patch 1.02 recently went live for the game, and while the update itself was a fairly minor one, the post on publisher Bandai Namco’s official website detailing the patch notes does hold an important detail.

Elden Ring will be getting ray tracing support in a future update. A part of the aforementioned post reads, “Timing for the implementation of ray tracing, which is planned to be supported after the launch, will be revealed in future announcements.”

There’s no mention of when exactly we can expect this update to go live, or which platforms it will add ray tracing to- though where the latter assume, it might be safe to assume that it’ll entail the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and of course, PC.

Elden Ring has been met with universal acclaim, to an almost astounding degree, and that’s been reflected on the commercial front as well, with the open world action RPG having hit a peak concurrent player count of over 764,000 on Steam at launch. You can read our review of the game through here.

Elden Ring is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
