FromSoftware’s open world action RPG Elden Ring has been showered with immense amounts of critical and commercial success on account of delivering a rich open world that’s a joy to explore. However, many have expressed criticisms about the lack of a proper pause button- similar to every other Soulsborne game the studio has ever made.
While the omission of this feature is understandable given the nature of Elden Ring, a rather unconventional trick is remedying that criticism too. As revealed by popular Youtuber Iron Pineapple on Twitter, if players select the Menu Explanation option in the inventory screen, the game will display a text prompt that will pause the action.
Of course, it goes without saying that it is an unintentional exploit that will most likely be patched out at some point in the future. In a recent interview, series director Hidetaka Miyazaki talked about how difficulty in FromSoftware’s games is a part of the studio’s identity- read more on that through here.
