As players discover the twisted world of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, they’ll enter Legacy Dungeons where various Demigods reside. While these are the major dungeons to explore (and are fairly complex, as revealed with Stormveil Castle), there are a number of smaller dungeons as well. Thankfully, you won’t have to search high and low for them thanks to Watchtowers.

FromSoftware’s Yasuhiro Kitao spoke to Jagatplay (translation via Google) about these and they function much like the towers in a traditional open world title. “Players are likely to miss some small dungeons in The Lands Between, especially during exploration. But don’t worry, we’ve also implemented a few ways to help you find these dungeons. You can, for example, find a structure called the Watchtower that will give you a clearer view of your surroundings. You can zoom with this structure, finding dungeons that will be automatically marked on your map.”

It’s also confirmed that Legacy Dungeons don’t have a level requirement but that doesn’t mean you can just waltz right in. “There is no level limit required for you to enter and clear the Legacy Dungeon. If you find it, you can even clear it with a level 1 character. But there will be some dungeons that require you to have special items or equipment to enter,” said Kitao. Perhaps these items will be discovered out in the world, like the Goron Tunic for accessing the Fire Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Elden Ring is out on January 21st 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. For more information on its various mechanics, like platforming and map markers, head here.
