With the wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong having dragged on as long as it has, many had hoped that Team Cherry would finally announce a release date for the long-awaited Metroidvania sequel at one of the several events that took place over this year’s summer showcase season. That, of course, ended up not happening, which has left many fans wondering what exactly that means for what state the game is in behind the scenes.

While Team Cherry itself has remained silent for quite some time, as shared on Reddit, Hollow Knight: Silksong’s lead playtester Graig has provided the barest of reassurances on the game’s official Discord server, stating that the game is not in development hell.

Of course, they are not technically part of the development team at Team Cherry, but while this doesn’t qualify as official communication from the studio, fans may be reassured to know that work on the game is still coming along, as per someone who’s familiar with its development.

How long it’ll be before we hear something about Hollow Knight: Silksong remains to be seen, but with the game having received numerous age ratings earlier in the year, speculation has been rampant that an announcement could be relatively close.

Whenever it releases, Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
