Among the many things that Bungie revealed about Destiny 2 in the coming years (including new expansions Beyond Light, The Witch Queen and Lightfall), it also announced the Destiny Content Vault. Essentially, Bungie will be cycling out old destinations and activities while bringing back previous content. This was done to “create a sustainable ecosystem where the world can continue to evolve in exciting ways, and where we can update the game more quickly” as per Bungie.

In Year 4, which starts on September 22nd with the launch of Beyond Light, the Cosmodrome from Destiny 1 will return. It will be explorable and also feature the Will of Crota Strike for all players. In Season 13 (which should start in December), the location will be at Destiny 1 Year 1 parity and include The Devil’s Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strikes.

Even an old raid, the Vault of Glass, will be returning with Bungie possibly updating it to have new challenges (like Champion Praetorians). So what’s being vaulted when September arrives? Five locations from the base game, namely Io, Titan, Mercury, Mars and Leviathan. Their respective activities and campaigns will also be unavailable so say goodbye to the underwhelming Curse of Osiris and Warmind stories.

But that’s not all. Along with a new raid in Beyond Light, the Deep Stone Crypt, there will be two more raids playable in the Fall. One of them may be Vault of Glass while a smaller raid akin to Scourge of the Past may release in the Winter. Exotics tied to vaulted destinations will be earnable through other means. Crucible will still have Destiny 1 and 2 maps while Gambit and Gambit Prime will be combined into one mode.

There’s a lot to take in so make sure to read Bungie’s official news post here. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
