Bungie dropped quite the news bomb-shell yesterday when it revealed the next Destiny 2 expansion, Shadowkeep. That’s because not only is the game going free to play, like reports stated, but it will also be available on Steam for PC players. Cross-save is also coming, and it seems that PS4 will be supported, along with Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.

What happens if you’re on Battle.net and want to shift everything to Steam though? Bungie noted that all progress and purchases could be migrated over at no additional cost. How this will work will be revealed during the Summer (head here to be notified when more details are available).

Bungie also noted that PvP would have a “renewed focus” going forward. Specific details weren’t provided, but it did say that fan-favourite game types would return in the future. Furthermore, there will be no more platform exclusive content – weapons, armour, PvP maps, Strikes, and so on will be accessible to all platforms.

Finally, there’s the price point. You can pick up Shadowkeep for $35 on Steam, and it will include a Pass for the first season of content after the expansion’s launch. Credit will be included for the next Season Pass, with four passes in total for Shadowkeep. Any credit left after Season 11 concludes will be converted into Silver.

However, you can also pick up Destiny 2, all of its expansions, Forsaken, and the Annual Pass for just $40 on Battle.net. If you’ve been hesitant about jumping into the game till now, this might be a good opportunity.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is out on September 17th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It will also be available for Google Stadia in November when Destiny 2 comes to the cloud-streaming platform.
