Destiny 2 Players Raise Concerns Over Single-Use Shaders

Shaders are no longer permanent and Destiny fans are far from pleased.

Destiny 2

Bungie’s Destiny 2 is receiving tons of popular feedback, both from longtime fans and critics, for its gameplay. However, players are starting to notice a rather annoying new change when it comes to shaders. Shaders were used in the previous game to paint one’s entire armour set and in Destiny 2, you can apply shaders to individual armour pieces.

Sounds great, right? Unfortunately, these shaders are now single use items. Remove them and they’re gone forever, which is not something collectors, fashion junkies or average players who like changing shaders regularly are happy about. It also doesn’t help that shaders can be acquired from Bright Engrams, which offer cosmetic items like shaders and can be earned by either grinding XP or spending real money.

Over on the Destiny sub-Reddit, several threads have emerged boycotting micro-transactions until shaders are changed, expressing concern, and just outright confusion. Bungie hasn’t addressed these concerns just yet but with tens of thousands of upvotes, it likely won’t ignore them for long. Stay tuned for more information and our official review in the coming days.
