Destiny 2 Masterwork Armour

Destiny 2’s major development blog update courtesy of game director Christopher Barrett who heads up the live team contained quite a few highlights. Aside from changes to Eververse that will go live with Crimson Days in February, Barrett also talked about new features that would be coming on January 30th.

Masterwork Armour is one such new feature and it will offer damage reduction when you’re using a Super. The Masterwork Armour stat can be re-rolled and there will once again be Cores and Shards available for upgrading. In addition to this, the update will bring mods with Raid-focused perks and the return of loot drops from Raid encounters. You can also purchase Leviathan and Eater of Worlds gear and weapons from the vendor in the Tower with Raid tokens and Legendary Shards.

In February, players can expect score tracking and high scores to replace the timer in Nightfall Strikes. “The scoring is similar to the Destiny 1 system but with adjustments to emphasize competitive execution of Strike objectives and support for player selectable score modifiers. In February, Nightfall High Scores will be exposed in-game via new emblems and will unlock rewards. We also have plans for Clan and Community High Scores in the works,” said Barrett.

You can also expect a “full rework” of mods which will be more unique and “greatly” increase the impact on player power. Mod 2.0 is currently planned for February but could be pushed back into early Spring. PC Tower chat, reduction to Exotic repetition, showcasing Fireteam members on your map in a particular destination, improvements to Quickplay and more are also coming.

Will any of this bring back lapsed players before Destiny 3 inevitably arrives? We’ll find out in the coming year.
