Destiny 2: Activision Addresses Criticism, Promises More Frequent And Transparent Communication

Activision talks about future plans for Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 has been a bit of a mess for both Activision and Bungie. Sure, many would say that where it really matters, that being sales and commercial success, the game’s done very well, but the reception to the game has been lukewarm at best, with many being disappointed by the lack of improvements over its predecessor, while the Curse of Osiris DLC only proved to drive criticism of the game even further.

However, Activision seem to have a roadmap for what they plan to do in the future with Destiny 2 to improve upon the current situation. In an investors call, Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg started off by talking about the game’s positive start in the market, critically and commercially, before mentioning how players of the game have lately been demanding more challenges and better rewards for playing the game, as well as a lack of current new content.

He then went on to say that Activision and Bungie have a plan in place to address these concerns. “Responding to player feedback is a part of the process in this game and any live game,” Hirshberg said. “And we feel we have the right plans in place to address the concern. Last week, Bungie posted a detailed roadmap of the changes that we have coming over the next several months. And thus far, those plans have been very well received as have the changes that we’ve already put into the game itself already and the sentiment is already starting to shift. And also, remember that we have a great expansion coming in May and a major expansion coming at the end of the year. And those events have always been opportunities for us to reengage our community and win back people who have churned out.”

“This is an incredibly passionate group of players and that passion is a good thing, even when the sentiment is critical because it shows how deeply people care about the game,” Hirshberg continued. “And we think that’s one of the thing that makes us a great franchise. And we are fully committed to listening to and communicating with our community more frequently and more transparently than ever and making the right changes to improve the experience. And we think we have the right path forward.”

Well, we’re hoping that that will actually pay off. Bungie and Activision promised a lot with Destiny 2, and it’s fair to say that they didn’t really deliver on all those promises, while the less we say about Curse of Osiris, the better. Either way, I guess we’ll have to wait and see to find out if Destiny 2 can turn it around with future DLC releases and updates. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage on the game.
