Darkest Dungeon 2

Red Hook Studios’ Darkest Dungeon is still pretty popular and continues to inspire many a turn-based RPG dungeon crawler. However, a sequel was announced more than a year ago with no further information provided since. What’s going on with Darkest Dungeon 2?

According to the team at Red Hook Studios, the game is “coming together.” Over on the game’s official Twitter, it said that, “We‘be been tight-lipped regarding Darkest Dungeon 2, but rest assured, the team is working very hard, and the game is coming together. We’ve staffed up over the past year, and are excited to share more when the stars are right…”

“When the stars are right” could be anytime in the coming months or maybe even in the next year. For now, development is happening at a steady pace.

Darkest Dungeon 2 was announced in February 2019 with our heroes apparently venturing out into the world to deal with a growing apocalypse. Though the combat system remains the same, Red Hook promised changes to the presentation and mechanics along with a completely different metagame. Whenever it releases, Darkest Dungeon 2 will be going to early access first so that fans get to play it sooner and give their feedback.
