Grand Theft Auto 6 Development Has Been “Chaotic” – Rumor

Analyst AccNGT thinks that except for the visuals, there will be "disappointment for many people for some aspects."

With all the trouble surrounding the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, it probably doesn’t help that the rumored Grand Theft Auto 6 is also facing issues. A previous report by Rockstar Magazine indicated that development was restarted in early 2020 following the departure of co-founder Dan Houser. Take-Two Interactive apparently sought an announcement in 2020 but that didn’t happen.

A recent tweet from AccNGT – who leaked images for Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse – also speaks of development troubles. “Some people don’t realize how chaotic the development is. I really think there will be disappointment for many people for some aspects (of course not the graphic side).” They then noted that if Grand Theft Auto 6 was announced this year or in early 2022, “We can really be worried.”

This should all be taken with a grain of salt, of course. Given the reception to the recent remastered trilogy, it wouldn’t be surprising if Take-Two and Rockstar decided to further delay any sequel announcement to give some breathing room. Even if it is announced sometime next year, it could still be many years off from release.

Along with recently announced DLC for Grand Theft Auto Online which follows Franklin years after GTA 5’s conclusion, Rockstar is also working on Grand Theft Auto 5: Expanded and Enhanced Edition for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. It’s slated to release in March 2022. A remaster of Red Dead Redemption 1 is also rumored to be in the works.
