After winning the Most Anticipated Game award at The Game Awards 2020, Elden Ring was rumored to be revealed in the opening months of this year. Granted, there hasn’t been an official reveal yet but it could be happening soon. At least, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier on Twitter.
Schreier noted that he didn’t have much knowledge about the game “except that it’s been delayed a bunch.” But he states strong evidence surrounding the title that it will be shown “relatively soon.” “It’s not going to pull a Winds of Winter. Elden Ring has pages,” he said, in reference to George R.R. Martin’s long-anticipated A Song of Ice and Fire novel.
One Twitter user commented how Elden Ring is “either stuck in development hell or on the verge of being cancelled” in his book. Schreier hilariously responded, “Then your book must be Winds of Winter because it’s not real.” Which pretty much means that the game isn’t anywhere near being stuck in limbo or cancelled, so that’s nice.
Elden Ring is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It first made waves with the announcement that Martin would be creating the backstory for its universe. Though we’ve yet to see it, FromSoftware has stated that the gameplay will be heavily based on Dark Souls while also confirming that it would be an open world title. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
